The mark consists of a patch-like brand with the word "MONTANA" in white against a black background, above a red horizontal stripe across the center of the mark, with the words "SKI + PATROL" in white against the red background. The horizontal stripe is curved slightly downwards at each end and the red background is outlined with a rectangular white line around the edge. The top of the mark features snow-capped peaks and the top of the badge-like mark is cut to follow the peak tops. The sides of the mark slope gently in and at the base, the outer edge angles in sharply to form a point at the base of the mark.
